Course Contents/Objectives
Trainees will know their safety requirements for the use of lifting equipment.
Their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, LOLER and PUWER Regulations.
- PPE requirements
- Inspection requirements for lifting equipment
- Slinging configurations, selection of slings and angles of slings and its effect upon the sling and lifting equipment
- Advantages and disadvantages of various lifting techniques
- Basic calculations of weights of loads and identifying centre of gravity of the load
- Importance in knowing the effect of shock loading and carrying out a test lift
The trainees will be able to give a safe set of signals and they should be able to participate in the slinging, lifting and moving of various different loads that are available on site for the instructor and trainees to use.
COURSE DURATION
- A One Day Course
- Maximum number of trainees to one instructor 6
- All trainees should be over 18 years old and medically fit enough for this type of work
- Theoretical and practical tests of trainees ability
