Operatives, Supervisors and Managers who have to locate underground apparatus for work on Construction sites, buildings, roadways and highways.

Aims

To train personnel in the knowledge needed to carry out cable and service avoidance work in order to safeguard themselves and others.

Course Summery

  • Delegates will receive training in a range of subjects including:
  • Read and understand basic site plans
  • Principles of location and avoidance of underground services
  • Safe systems of work
  • Operate cable avoidance tools in order to avoid or locate underground apparatus
  • Identify potential risks to themselves and others

Training Methods

A high proportion of discussion and simulated assessments supplemented with video, classroom tutorials and progress test. There is also individual practical assessments on both the Cable Avoidance Tool and Genny.

Client to provide specific Cable Avoidance Tool and compatible Signal Generator (Genny) for the practical element of the course.

The group was initially formed in 1968 and was known as the Luton and District Construction Training Group. However, to better reflect the geographical locations of the members, the name was changed in the 1980's to the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Construction Group. In 1991 the group became Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Construction Training Limited. In 2008 to better reflect our position in the market place our name changed to Construction Training (B&H) Ltd.
